How long are Renaissance baths guaranteed for?

All our baths are guaranteed for 5 years.

How long will it take to receive my order?

Currently cast iron radiators and baths will be ready for dispatch in 30 working days. Hand Burnished radiators can take up to 6 weeks to complete.

If your order is for radiator accessories such as valves, pipe shrouds & wall stays and is placed before 12:00pm, your order will be dispatched for next day delivery.

Can I install pipework before receiving my Renaissance cast iron radiators?

All measurements given are for guidance only and should not be used for the fixing of pipework.

Due to our radiators being bespoke and hand assembled, variations in seal compression and the machined faces can occur. We are able to supply measurements prior to dispatch once we have completed the assembly process should you require them.

Renaissance Radiators accepts no responsibility for customers who choose to install pipe work prior to having their cast iron radiators delivered to site.

Where can cast iron radiators be used?

Cast iron Radiators are extremely versatile and can make an exceptional statement piece within a modern décor whilst also being perfectly suited to being surrounded by period property features.

Choosing the correct style and finish according your property is the key. A non-decorative model, such as the Avery, in burnished finish or the use of more vibrant paint colours, will suit a more modern environment. For a more traditional property the use of our more decorative range, such as the Volute, in a traditional paint finish may better suit.

Can a new boiler be used with cast iron radiators?

Yes, our cast iron radiators are supplied as standard with ½” inlets, identical to those found on the pressed steel versions commonly available. As with steel radiators, the system should be flushed prior to commissioning, inhibitor added, and suitable filtration system (such as Magnaflow) used.

How are cast iron radiators made?

Cast iron radiators are built by bolting individual sections together using a dual threaded nipple and gasket in between. Once assembled, each radiator is then pressure tested to ensure the connections have been correctly seated and the sections themselves are free from defects. This method does mean the number of sections of each radiator can be adjusted according to the heating requirement.

Do cast iron radiators stay hot for longer?

When compared to steel radiators, cast iron radiators do stay hotter for longer. This is due to the cast iron radiator wall material being fairly thicker and retaining heat for longer after the heating system has been switched off.

Can a cast iron radiator be painted?

Here at Renaissance Radiators, we tint our own specialised paint and can match any colour. Each section is coated prior to assembly to ensure that no surface is missed. Once assembled and pressure tested a further top coat is applied prior to dispatch.

Can a cast iron radiator be polished?

Yes, we offer two polished finishes, Hand Polished and Satin Finished.

Hand polished is achieved by using abrasive wheels to burnish the casting surface. Starting with a rough grit and working each piece with ever finer abrasives until a final buff with a stitched mop reveals a polished finish. The Satin finish is prepared using ceramic abrasives and then a final finish with a steel brush giving a softer polish look.

What is a BTU?

BTU (British Thermal Unit) is a measurement of heat, for example, one four-inch wooden kitchen match consumed completely generates approximately 1 Btu of heat. A simple conversion between BTU to Watts can be done by dividing the BTU figure by 0.293.

What is a cast iron radiator section?

Cast Iron radiators are assembled to order using sections. Each model uses 2 types of sections, Leg and middle sections. To explain this further a 10 section radiator would be made up of 2 leg sections (1 at each end) and 8 middle sections, these are bolted together using threaded nipples and a gasket to create the seal. Larger radiators (typically 16 sections plus) would have addition legs added to the middle of the radiators.

Are cast iron radiators heavy?

Great care needs to be taken when handling/lifting as cast iron radiators are heavy. When ordering your radiators you can see the specified weights for guidance. On larger radiators we can provide these part built to make handling easier. In this case we can also supply a tool and required components to assemble the remaining sections onsite.

We offer full details on handling the radiators on the delivery. If you require this before hand, please contact us and we will be happy to forward these to you.
